Duo Concertante: In the Bleak Midwinter
It’s December 21, the shortest day and the first day of winter (aka midwinter). It’s a time of extreme darkness and, according to the title of today’s song choice, bleakness. No argument here.
I love the text of In The Bleak Midwinter. It was published as a poem in 1872 by Christina Rosetti. In the early 1900s it inspired an equally beautiful melody and became a world-renown Christmas song. A fantastic instrumental rendition of the song was recorded by Duo Concertante on their 2017 release Perfect Light.
The album should be part of your Christmas listening.
