Ana Luísa Ramos: Clouds

I could touch the clouds, while holding your head with my hands,” begins Ana Luísa Ramos new single Clouds.

It’s the perfect opening for a song that’s all about small gestures, big feelings and the appreciation of all that makes life worth living.

The track is the first offering from Ramos new album Solaris and was written on the eve of her birthday. It’s lyrics seem influenced by the kind of self-reflection that birthdays bring, which is to say, it’s introspective and sort of wistful. I mean, it’s not a sad song in any sense but something about the way she sings ‘I want to do it all/I intend to do it all’ gets me.

Maybe it’s just that the older I get the more I realize I can’t really do it all, despite my best intentions. I don’t know.

What I do know is, I like this song and it will be on my playlists for a while — its cool bossa nova vibe has had me hitting repeat. Check it out now!

Be sure to watch Ramos video for ‘Clouds’ as well. It was directed by Eric Taylor Escudero, Ramos frequent collaborator, and is full of Newfoundland scenery.
