Midnight Watch: Ghost Hours

The Newfoundland-based alt-country band Midnight Watch have been serving-up series of stellar singles since 2022. Their songs ‘Writer’s Tears,’ ‘Evergreen’ and ‘Thank You Kindly’ have set the bar pretty high — I expect solid song craft, infectious hooks and expert musicianship from Midnight Watch.

Their new full-length release Ghost Hours doesn’t disappoint. It’s a 10-track collection that gathers their previous singles and offers 7 brand new tracks. It’s a blend of country, rock, blues, folk, and indie alternative that the band describes as “a unique sonic landscape that's different yet somehow familiar at the same time”. That feels about right; it’s distinct but it feels right.

I’m currently in love with the title track (which reminds me of classic REM) but, truthfully, this is an album to listen to in its entirety.

Check it out. Right now.
