Roadside Shrine by Mike Fisher

Mike Fisher, NL’s punk veteran, has changed the way I think about highway driving. I blame the lead single from his latest record, Diary of A Psychic Vampire. It’s called ‘Roadside Shrine’ and I’ve been singing it under my breath all week.

In terms of subject matter, the song delivers on its title — it’s about crosses on the side of the highway. You know, roadside markers people put up to mark fatal traffic accidents.

I know, it doesn’t sound like fun listening. I mean, it isn’t the most cheerful subject matter. Don’t let that put you off — the song is no dirge, it’s modern punk-infused rock.

You don’t have to be into punk to appreciate Diary of A Psychic Vampire, though. Anyone who likes good songwriting and a hooky chorus will want to put the album on repeat.

It’s totally worth hearing.

Check it out now whereever you stream music.

Or buy it on CD.
