Insensitive by Carolina East
Carolina East is one of my favourite local vocalists, she sings with a power and passion that's hard not to love. It doesn’t hurt that she’s released a string of infectious, genre-blurring country-pop songs, either. I've written about my love of her songs 'I'm Not Scared' and ‘Isn't It Nice' on Product of Newfoundland before.
As per usual, East absolutely kills it vocally — the power and sincerity that have won her fans for years are on full display.
I'm such a fan, I asked East to appear on the Strange Truths and Tall Tales podcast a couple of Christmases ago to chat about her Christmas album. During that conversation, she teased an upcoming cover of a Jann Arden classic. Now in 2026, that cover has finally arrived — and East’s version of Arden's “Insensitive” was well-worth the wait.
It has all the charm, emotional punch and beauty of the original, but with a contemporary production that feels fresh while still respecting what made the original so good. And there’s a good reason: East worked with Arden’s longtime collaborator Russell Broom on the track.
As per usual, East absolutely kills it vocally — the power and sincerity that have won her fans for years are on full display.
“Insensitive” is out now wherever you stream your music.
Check it out.
I’m obsessed with music from Newfoundland and Labrador…
It’s fresh, wild, and full of surprises. The artists here are pumping out so much new stuff, it’s hard to keep up. So, I started a playlist of my faves—tons of genres, but the only rule is they’re local and totally repeat-worthy. I update it regularly, so follow along (on Spotify, Apple Music or Youtube).
Trust me, there’s a ton of good stuff coming your way.
