The Hors D'oeuvres Song by Kitchinparti (ft. Kevin Blackmore)

24 days until Christmas…. and I can’t think of a better way to kick off the 2025 edition of the Product of Newfoundland Christmas Music Advent Calendar than with The Hors D’oeuvres Song — the new holiday release from Kitchinparti featuring Newfoundland icon Kevin Blackmore.

The track is an ode (of sorts) to the well-known Newfoundland party hors d’oeuvre: a piece of cheese, a pickle, and a Vienna sausage all skewered together on a toothpick spear.

A puffin and Christmas lights with text.

Judging from posts on social media, some people seem to have a… complicated relationship with this treat — they like it, but they’re not entirely sure they should admit to liking it.

I’m not really sure why. Life is full of grief; don’t tie yourself in a knot over a Vienna sausage on a stick.

I digress.

The song is fun, ridiculously catchy, and personally satisfying because it feels like a Christmas wish fulfilled. Last year, Tyler Humber appeared on the Strange Truths & Tall Tales podcast, and we talked about an early version of the song he’d posted on social media. I loved it then and hoped it would eventually get a proper release — and now it has.

It’s everything I hoped it might be and more. They brought along some additional star power in the form of Buddy Wassisname frontman Kevin Blackmore who, as you might expect, ups the comedic ante.

The Hors D’oeuvres Song is available now wherever you stream your music… And there’s more good news, Kitchinparti have a new album coming in 2026!
