Every Ribbon by Tim Baker

I loved Tim Baker’s Full Rainbow of Light album. Released in 2024, it was a collection of holiday songs that I wanted to keep playing all year long. I was more than happy to discover that there was more to come.

This year Baker is releasing a Deluxe Version with three extra tracks, the first of which is available right now. ‘Every Ribbon’ is a song about someone dreading Christmas because the good memories of Christmases gone are now too painful to relive.

But here’s the magic of Tim Baker: even when the subject matter is emotional, the song still shimmers.

“Every Ribbon” manages to feel honest without ever feeling heavy, wrapping its sadness in gorgeous instrumentation and the kind of melodic warmth that made Full Rainbow of Light such a standout holiday release in the first place.

Baker explains that this isn’t a story about someone who hates Christmas — it’s about someone who once loved it so much that the memories sting. And that makes it an unexpected and refreshing addition to the holiday canon. Instead of jingling bells and perfect postcards, it captures the complicated side of Christmas that many people quietly carry: the ache of missing people and moments that can’t be recreated.

A little sparkle and a little depth.

Despite its melancholy heart, “Every Ribbon” is a beautiful track, and one that fits right in with Baker’s growing collection of thoughtful seasonal tunes.

If your holiday playlist needs something with a little sparkle and a little depth, add this one immediately — it sounds fantastic and just might hit you right in the memories.
