More Christmas Music from Newfoundland & Labrador

It’s that time again. The days are short, the nights are long, and we’re all doing our best to hold back the expanding darkness with coloured lights, kitchen parties, and a full-on avalanche of festive tunes.

Which means it’s time for what I’m now confident enough to call a tradition — at what point does something officially become one, anyway? — the Product of Newfoundland Christmas Music Advent Calendar. This is year five, and like always, I’ll be posting a Newfoundland or Labrador Christmas song every day from December 1st to Christmas Eve.

It’s the kind of advent calendar that offers a better payoff than the store-bought cardboard ones. Instead of 24 squares of questionable chocolate, you get 24 days of music, memories, and a soundtrack that could only come from this place.

If you’re new here, all the previous editions are still up on the blog and ready for your holiday binge-listening. And if you’ve got a favourite Newfoundland Christmas tune you think I should include, feel free to pass it along — I’m always on the lookout for new gems.

Let the music (and the merriment) begin!

Robert Hiscock

Robert grew up in a tiny Newfoundland community called Happy Adventure. These days he lives in Gander, NL and his happiest adventures are spent with his two Labrador retrievers exploring the island while listening to a soundtrack of local music.

When the dogs are napping Robert takes photos, writes about Newfoundland, and makes a podcast.
