Santa’s From The Bight By Rum Ragged

I’ve been waiting for more Rum Ragged Christmas music ever since their 2018 album Rum Ragged at Christmas—a record I play every December without fail. So I was pretty excited to dive into their new release, All The Bells and Wassails.

The great news is… I think I like it even more.

Most Newfoundlanders and Labradorians are already familiar with Rum Ragged—formed by Aaron Collis and Mark Manning—and their bold, smart take on the music of this place. They’ve got that unmistakable mix of tradition and energy that makes their sound instantly recognizable.

That’s exactly what you get on the new album: a smart blend of contemporary folk and classic Christmas, all delivered with that signature Rum Ragged spark.

The track that hooked me right away is “Santa’s From The Bight,” written by Paul Dean. It’s a full-tilt tour around Trinity Bight—from Champneys to the Bonaventures—and it’s so catchy you’ll be singing it before you realize what’s happening. High-energy, fun, and impossible not to love.

Add it to your playlists now. And if you want to hear the band in full holiday form, Rum Ragged will be performing across the island from Dec. 14–22.

Check them out.
