All The Way Down Now by Elder Caius

St. John’s instrumental duo Elder Caius are back — and this time with their first full-length release. The promotion for their self-titled album kicked off with “All The Way Down Now,” a driving, moody, and layered track that blends progressive rock, psychedelia, and a touch of metal into something cinematic and compelling.

I’ve written about Elder Caius before, calling their sound “intriguing from the get-go, and entertaining through to the end,” and I stand by that here. There’s a restless energy to this single — something stormy and maybe even a little angry — but it’s never chaotic. The track builds with purpose, rewarding re-listens with new textures and details each time.

Evan Watton (guitar, programming) and Nathan Cluett (bass) have carved out a sound that feels both carefully composed and raw around the edges — a balance that’s not easy to strike. If you’re into instrumental music that’s heavy on mood but not afraid to dig in, this one’s well worth your time.

I’m obsessed with music from Newfoundland and Labrador…

It’s fresh, wild, and full of surprises. The artists here are pumping out so much new stuff, it’s hard to keep up. So, I started a playlist of my faves—tons of genres, but the only rule is they’re local and totally repeat-worthy. I update it regularly, so follow along (on Spotify, Apple Music or Youtube).

Trust me, there’s a ton of good stuff coming your way.
