Kitchinparti: Golden Jubilee
I’m a fan of Kitchinparti.
The family band from Pouch Cove — made up of Tyler Humber (vocals and guitar), Terri Lynn Hickey (vocals and tin whistle), and Justin Hickey (vocals and bass) — have been making some of my favourite high-energy trad Newfoundland music since they burst onto the scene five years ago. Now they’re continuing that streak with a spirited new take on the traditional Irish classic Golden Jubilee.
tailor-made for crowded kitchens, raised glasses, and downtown dance floors.
The song tells the story of a 50th wedding anniversary and has long been a favourite during the band’s live performances. “It’s about honouring the miles travelled and the love that stays true through the years,” the band writes. “We wanted to capture that all-hands-on-deck party feeling and share it with listeners everywhere.”
As usual, they’ve succeeded. The energy here is absolutely infectious.
From the lively instrumentation to the soaring group vocals, “Golden Jubilee” feels tailor-made for crowded kitchens, raised glasses, and downtown dance floors. It captures the warm, authentic vibe that makes Newfoundland and Irish traditional music so popular in the first place.
The timing couldn’t be better, either.
Golden Jubilee is now available on all major streaming platforms, just in time for May 2-4 kitchen parties, campfires, and long weekends with friends.
Check it out.
I’m obsessed with music from Newfoundland and Labrador…
It’s fresh, wild, and full of surprises. The artists here are pumping out so much new stuff, it’s hard to keep up. So, I started a playlist of my faves—tons of genres, but the only rule is they’re local and totally repeat-worthy. I update it regularly, so follow along (on Spotify, Apple Music or Youtube).
Trust me, there’s a ton of good stuff coming your way.
Kitchinparti are back with a high-energy take on the Irish classic “Golden Jubilee” — the perfect soundtrack for May 2-4 kitchen parties, campfires, and long weekend singalongs.
24 days til Christmas… Let’s kick the festivities off with some Hors D’ouvres courtesy of Kitchinparti and Kevin Blackmore.
In the first track from their forthcoming album Newfoundland’s Kitchinparti nails a rare combo: heartfelt lyrics and foot-stomping fun.
